A local, community-wide rally will call on New York State officials to investigate and defund Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest chain of abortion clinics. The rally is part of the national #WomenBetrayed protests taking place across the country.
Planned Parenthood was recently caught on video discussing the sale of body parts of
Feminists for Nonviolent Choices of New York (FFNVC), a sponsor of Women Betrayed, claim the undercover investigation is merely the latest infraction in a long list of horrific, deceptive behaviors that have triggered on-going congressional hearings and opinions published across the country by columnists on both sides of the debate. “The selling of baby parts is merely the latest incident of exploitation,” says rally organizer Caroline Bennett, a Cornell University student and Rochester resident. “I refuse to be desensitized by Planned Parenthood’s unethical and questionable legal behavior, all in my name as a woman.”
According to Planned Parenthood’s annual report, revenue in 2013 was $1.3 billion. This includes over $500 million in federal and state tax paper funding, making the non-profit’s reported net profit $127 million. Eleven states have already defunded the abortion giant, including Wisconsin, New Jersey, and New Hampshire. Women Betrayed rallies are scheduled to take place in 59 major cities next week at Planned Parenthood sites, including Lansing, Michigan, Los Angeles, California, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. FFNVC is also sponsoring rallies in Syracuse and Buffalo, NY.
